Magical Mystery Tours are a form of Random Art
Random art is the composing of any mixed media art in a not pre-meditated spontaneous way by working with what is available at the moment in the surrounding environment. Rather than following a plan a human animal for a change just follows an impulse, a feeling or an intuition and minimizes the thinking activity of a habitual headestrian.
Using computer technology with the help of random generator applications creates a similar situation of giving up the control the human mind and a vast array of possible combinations and sequences opens up by just using pools of pictures and music tracks as a source for a unique random audiovisual art work.
The digital Magical Mystery Tour has been devised by Thomas Wiegandt after having worked around 1980 together with other artists (admittedly back then under the influence of psychedelic illegal substances) with multi-media shows in underground venues and squatted houses with the use of 2 slide projectors, an episcope, pre-recorded or live music and dancers moving through the projections in front of the screen.
A digital Magical Mystery Tour will never be the same or repeat itself because of the random setting (for better or worse) in a lifetime of a human being. Be surprised and enjoy some time of unpredictability, and the unexpected sense or non-sense it may create. Taking non-agenda time out can relax today’s overly busy mind, so enjoy your unique and legal trip into a world of wonder and surprise.
